Then and Now: Rogers & Newkirk Aves
The weird thing about these Then and Now photos is that I always spot something new when I post them. For this photo of Rogers & Newkirk from the 1940s, I just noticed the fence on the roof. It’s no longer there in the modern-day photo (which I took in Jan 2023), but you can see the dent in the roof line and rain-rust stains it left behind.
I wonder if “Pop’s Sugar Bowl” was as risqué-sounding back then as it is today? I’m not sure if I’d feel comfortable with my kid buying toys and candy there!
